Hello.

Bakhoos is a modern space making bread using ancient techniques, slow fermentation and shaping by hand. Our cakes and viennoiserie are made with local seasonal produce wherever possible.

The bakery is run by husband and wife team, Scott MacKenzie and Charlotte King.

Scott lives and breathes bread, having spent the last eighteen years working in the industry at some of the most well regarded bakeries in Scotland.

He is constantly honing his craft, spending his spare time researching, reading and experimenting to perfect the most delicious sourdough as well as beautiful cakes and viennoiserie, with a focus on using the best Scottish produce.

Charlotte is a designer and cake baker. Her passion for baking started young, her mother showing her cake was a way of expressing creativity and love. Her interest in simple, tasty, seasonal ingredients are what inspires our range.

Her work as a designer is the guide for the Bakhoos aesthetic, with every element reflecting the seasons and colours of the Scottish landscape.

They have three girls Marsaili, Flòraidh and Sylvi and care passionately about making a contribution to a better, more sustainable world for them to grow up in.

The family moved back to Scott’s home turf on the Black Isle to start Bakhoos. A small bakery that understands its impact on a community scale, as well as the larger impact food miles and sustainability have on the world.

We use local organic produce where possible on our mission to create delicious food.
